SHOPPING FOR BABY BEDDING – THE RIGHT WAY
You don’t need to fuss about your baby’s fashion sense, or the need for designer labels, when it comes to choosing good quality cot bedding, for your tot’s crib. A dash of common sense and some practical advice from your child bearing friends, your mum or even your grandma will teach you about the stuff you need to keep handy, near a cot. If it helps, this article was also made from a little solicited advice from some similar, treasured sources!
As a general rule, buy extra quilts and bed spreads, because they tend to get dirty at all times of the day. Your little darling just isn’t ready to be toilet trained yet! Also, get baby bedding which fits to the crib. A crumpled messy bed, with over hanging edges, does not do much to add appeal to the nursery bedding. But if you are thinking of expanding the bed later on, the large bedding can stay, as long as you paint your nursery with some bright vivid colors to catch your baby’s eyes!
Pillows and duvets- togs
The amount of heat in duvets and pillows produced while sleeping is measured in the units of thermal resistance (tog), which produces heat and maintains it in bedding. The value is affected by the thickness and stuff of the duvet or pillow. The nominal winter duvet is expected to have a tog value of 10-12 togs for sufficient heating and maintenance of the temperature produced. A summer duvet is to have a 5-6-tog value.
Usually a thin duvet with a tog value of 5-6 serves as a summer duvet while doubling it serves the purpose for winters where twice the thick duvet reaches a tog value of 10-12 togs easily. Maximally attainable values are 13-14 togs above which the temperature is not optimum for sleep. Therefore take a pillow or duvet after checking the tog value for it.
